When you land at Kathmandu's Tribhuwan International Airport, someone from Vista Trek will be there to greet you. They will be on time to welcome you to this beautiful place with big mountains.
After you get into a car from the airport, you just have to go to your hotel. Once you arrive at the hotel, you can check in and enjoy some refreshments they'll give you.
Next, we'll go to the Vista Trek office. There, we'll talk about your trekking adventure, introduce you to the guide and porter, and if you owe any money, you can pay it. After that, if you still have some time, you can take a walk around the Thamel area if you want to.
We fly to Lukla from Kathmandu in the morning. This 30-minute flight comes with spectacular views of the hills and the Himalayas, forcing many to take their cameras out or simply use their mobile phones with attempts to capturing the beauty.
After breakfast in Lukla, we start our walk to Chutanga. Leaving the trail to our right which leads to Phakding, we turn right. On analmost flat comfortable trail for about four hours, we walk through a relatively thick forest and arrive in Chutanga with around half a dozen small constructions in the middle of this forest.
After a big breakfast, we prepare our lunch and start walking uphill for about four hours. First, we go over a hill called Nau Lekh Ridge. This hill separates the Khumbu Valley from the Hinku Valley, where we're heading. Then, we climb up and over Zwatra-La, which is a high point at 4,610 meters. If the weather is clear, you can see the Limding Himal mountain range from here, which is really cool. After that, it takes about two more hours to reach Thuli Kharka, also known as Chatra-La, but this part of the trail goes downhill. We'll spend the night there.
Following breakfast, we begin our walk downhill, passing over a series of ridges. In about three hours, we arrive at Thulodunga, a place with several teahouses where we'll stop for lunch.
Afterward, we continue towards Kothé. We start by descending sharply to the Hinku River, and then we climb through a forest to reach Kothé. This settlement is located by the river and has what most travelers need.
We'll spend the night in Kothé."
After breakfast, we begin our walk along the banks. A slight uphill all the way, the route is not demanding on the legs. An hour after leaving Kothé, only some species of shrubs and grasses remain to still hold on in these conditions that are getting harsher and harsher for most species of vegetation. We come across a monastery about an hour before Thaknak. Like Kothé, Thaknak too comes with about half a dozen hotels providing good facilities.
We retrace our steps back to Kothé in around seven hours, stopping for lunch in Thaknak. We spend the hight in Kothe.
